UCF researchers use artificial intelligence to spot lung cancer

University of Central Florida researchers have a novel system to find lung tumors. It uses concepts very similar to facial recognition systems.

Computers are "shown" hundreds of CT scans of real lung tumors. Using artificial intelligence, the computers "learn" what tumors are and what they look like. UCF researchers say their method is much more accurate than current methods which require radiologists to inspect the scans by hand.
