Uber deal approved in Sanford

SANFORD, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - Getting an Uber in Sanford just got a little cheaper after the city agreed to a pilot project with the ride-share program. 

Sanford will pay for 25 percent of your ride if you use Uber to take you to, or from, the SunRail station. The city will also pick up 20 percent of your tab if you use Uber to go anywhere else in Sanford. 

Sanford leaders are hoping this deal will make commutes a lot less hectic. Other central Florida cities have already approved or are discussing similar Uber programs. Those cities include Longwood, Maitland, Altamonte Springs, and Lake Mary. 

The pilot program begins on July 1st.
