COCOA, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A two-year-old female and a one-year-old male were sent to hospital after a vehicle crash on U.S. 1, according to the Cocoa Police Department.
Police report that the female child was sent to the trauma center in Orlando for serious injuries. The other child was also sent to the trauma center as a precaution. Both children are now in stable condition. One of them has been released from the hospital.
The crash reportedly occurred at 11 a.m. when the driver of a Chevy Impala northbound on U.S. 1 attempted to make an illegal U-turn at the intersection of Dixon BLVD. The Impala pulled in front of an oncoming southbound Ford Taurus. The driver of the Taurus could not avoid impact.
There were no other injuries in the crash, police said.
The female driver of the Impala is reportedly being cited for failure to yield the right of way, which caused the crash.
