Lawyers for former President Donald Trump asked the New York judge who presided over his hush money trial to set aside his conviction and delay his sentencing, scheduled for later this month. FOX 5 NY's Robert Moses has the latest.

NEW YORK - Manhattan prosecutors delayed Donald Trump’s sentencing in his criminal hush money case following a Supreme Court's ruling that granted broad immunity protections to presidents.

In a letter filed Tuesday, prosecutors with the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office said the matter would be adjourned to September 18 at 10 a.m.

The previous sentencing date was July 11. 

The letter came one day after Trump's attorney requested the judge delay the trial as he weighs the high court’s decision and how it could influence the New York case.

Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
