After a cool and dry start to next week, an area of low pressure will begin to move over the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to funnel tropical moisture over Florida.
ORLANDO, Fla. - A tropical wave is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa this weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center on Friday morning.
The low-latitude system could develop into a tropical depression by early to mid next week as it moves toward the west to west-northwest across the eastern tropical Atlantic.
While this storm doesn't have a chance of developing in the next two days, it has a medium (50%) chance of forming in the next week.
Philippe could bring flooding to New England as post-tropical cyclone
Philippe became a post-tropical cyclone on Friday afternoon, the NHC said.
The storm still poses a risk of flash flooding across New England this weekend as it continues to move toward the north or north-northwest at 16 mph with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.
Later on Friday, Philippe is forecast to pass Bermuda before reaching the coast of Canada or eastern New England on Saturday night or Sunday.
The NHC is not issuing any more updates on this storm.
