Traffic shift on Maitland Boulevard, I-4 ramp

The westbound Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414) ramp to westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) is shifting to its permanent location on the newly constructed elevated roadway Friday morning.

The ramp change will eliminate the split on westbound Maitland Boulevard near Hope Road requiring drivers to choose the left lane for westbound I-4, or the right two lanes to continue on westbound Maitland Boulevard, eastbound I-4 entrance ramp or Hope Road.

With all traffic using the new elevated lanes of westbound Maitland Boulevard, several traffic signals can be eliminated at the I-4 and Maitland Boulevard interchange. The temporary traffic signal at westbound Maitland Boulevard and Hope Road will be gone. In addition, the traffic signal at eastbound Maitland Boulevard for motorists turning left onto the eastbound I-4 on-ramp will be no more. However, the temporary traffic signal for motorists entering westbound I-4 from westbound Maitland Boulevard will remain in operation.
