A possible tornado ripped through portions of the Florida Panhandle as a severe line of storms began to sweep across the state Tuesday morning.

Residents in Panama City Beach shared photos and videos on social media showing storm debris scattered over parts of the town, damaged homes, toppled garbage dumpsters, and downed trees and power lines.

Damage from possible tornado in Florida Panhandle

Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis took an aerial tour of Panama City, Florida, where multiple suspected tornadoes are believed to have touched down Tuesday morning. The NWS in Tallahassee said it would send survey teams out on Wednesday to survey the damage and confirm tornadoes and possible tornadic ratings.

Possible tornado wreaks havoc in Florida

Crews are surveying the damage after a possible tornado ravaged parts of Panama City Beach, Florida, Tuesday morning.

As of Tuesday afternoon, emergency management officials said no storm-related deaths have been reported. 

The same powerful system is expected to move across Central Florida in the afternoon and evening.

Possible tornado rips through Florida Panhandle

Video captured by a resident in the Florida Panhandle shows the damage left behind after a possible tornado ripped through the area Tuesday morning.

FOX 35 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Jayme King said the severe storms could bring our area damaging winds, a few tornadoes, heavy rain, lightning and small hail.

Confirmed tornadoes on the ground near Panama City

Officials confirm that tornadoes have touched down on the ground near Panama City in the Florida Panhandle Tuesday morning.

The northern counties should see the line of weather approaching and moving through between 2 and 4 p.m., drawing closer to Orlando between 4 and 6 p.m. and our southern viewing area between 6 and 8 p.m.

Conditions are expected to improve into the late night hours as shifting winds and cooler air arrive behind the departing front.
