Two sisters took the stand in the Luis Toledo murder trial on Friday afternoon. They lived across from Toledo four years ago in Deltona.

The girls said they heard screaming after midnight on October 23, 2013. That's the night Toledo is accused of killing his wife, Yessenia Suarez and her two children, Michael and Thalia.

The now 17-year-old neighbor, who asked not to be named said, "I was laying in bed, and I heard a woman yell 'Help me!' I turned to my sister to see if she heard it and she did."

The now 14-year-old neighbor said in court, "I heard a girl yell 'Help me!' two different times at max. It was pretty clear and loud."

They said it was odd, but they thought it could just be a teenager in the area goofing around, so they went back to sleep.

After school the same day, one of the sisters said she was walking home from the school bus when she looked down and found a knife.  Prosecutors said Toledo threw the knife out of the car window when he saw a deputy at his home.

The defense tried to stop the knife from being admitted in court as evidence, but the judge decided otherwise.

Toledo's brother is expected to take the stand on Monday.
