Toddler found wandering in Daytona Beach

A two-year-old boy was found wandering in a Daytona Beach neighborhood, wearing nothing but a dirty diaper.

A neighbor saw the boy in the road and took him inside. The boy was wandering close to Mason Avenue, a busy street in Daytona Beach. Police officers went inside a house where the boy apparently lived and found the toddler's 18-year-old uncle sleeping inside.  They said they also found what was described as "deplorable conditions."

The toddler’s mother, Natasha Johnson, 22, and the toddler’s grandmother, Brelinda Rose, 44, have been arrested and charged with child neglect.

That toddler and an 11-year-old girl, who is the boy's aunt, have been taken into custody by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
