Storms bring flooding, damage to Brevard County

Afternoon storms took down the roof of a closed business on Willard St. in Cocoa on Wednesday.  Kevin Barfield was working next door when he heard the crash.

"There were holes in the wall that actually relieve the water off of the roof, and I don't think they could keep up with the volume of water," Barfield tells FOX 35.

Two miles down the road, in Merritt Island, the half-hour storm blocked people from their homes.

"It floods and when you have the cars drive thru or attempt to drive thru, it floods the house," says homeowner Linda Johnson-Brown.

Residents say the heavy downpour moved quickly, leading to flash flooding. Flooding in the area quickly dissipated. No one was injured during roof collapse.
