Snow in Florida: Best photos, videos of winter storm
ORLANDO, Fla. - Snow in Florida? Yes! You heard that right.
What we know:
Historic snowfall over parts of Florida
Portions of Florida are under a rare winter storm warning with multiple inches of snow projected to fall on Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.
The winter storm moving through the southern regions of Texas, Louisiana and Alabama has brought snow to the Sunshine State. Snow began to fall near Pensacola on Tuesday afternoon.
By late afternoon, snow totals already appeared to break records in the Florida Panhandle, exceeding six inches in Escambia County, where previous records were set at around four inches. Areas around New Orleans saw snow totals in the double digits.

New Orleans remained under a Winter Storm Warning – only the second time on record for Orleans Parish. By noon Tuesday, Baton Rouge and New Orleans had shattered one-day snow total records, with more than 5 inches falling in both cities. Mid-City New Orleans recorded 9.5 inches of snow with the frozen precipitation still falling.

The NWS office in Mobile reported over six inches of snow at Mobile Regional Airport early Tuesday evening and had set a new record of 8.5 inches by midnight, which broke the all-time snowfall record. In nearby Pensacola, the main entrance to the Naval Air Station was closed on Tuesday due to icy road conditions created by the storm.
Just east of Pensacola, in Milton, around 8.8 inches of snow had fallen by Wednesday morning.
Florida gets slammed by winter storm system
The Panhandle of Florida saw record-breaking snowfall on Tuesday and now North Florida and Central Florida are preparing for some of that frozen precipitation.
"We used to think Blizzard Beach was a theme park in Orlando. It turns out that we may see some snow on our beaches throughout northwest Florida and even into Tallahassee and beyond," Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday during a winter storm update.
What we don't know:
The snow continues to fall over parts of the Panhandle, so totals are still being tabulated. What is also unclear is where exactly the freeze line will settle over the Florida Peninsula.
The FOX 35 Storm Team is eying a zone from Ocala to Palm Coast, but snow flurries may show up in the Orlando area by late morning as the rain moves off the coast.
