Dozens of homes damaged in weekend storms

Several homes -- up to 35 -- were damaged or impacted on Sunday in Barefoot Bay after strong storms moved through the area. The NWS is now investigating.

The National Weather Service plans to send teams to Barefoot Bay on Monday to look at the damage after strong storms moved through the area Sunday afternoon, FOX 35 has learned, and to determine whether there was a tornado or not.

Between 30 and 35 homes were damaged or impacted by a "significant wind event" as storms moved through, a spokesperson for Brevard County Fire Rescue told FOX 35 late Sunday, including at least one home's roof being blown off.

FOX 35 visited one neighborhood in Barefoot Bay and saw at least one carport collapsed, some siding on the ground, and trash cans and other debris scatted across yards.

In a separate incident, one person was killed on a boat after reportedly being struck by lightning, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue. Another person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, the official said.

No other details were immediately released.
