DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Volusia County officials say they have found the body of a Florida man who went missing after getting caught in a rip current.
Officials say the 27-year-old man from Ocala was swimming with some family members at an unguarded area near 1024 North A1A in Daytona Beach when they got caught in a rip current. Everyone except for the 27-year-old was able to get back onshore.

Beach officials launched an extensive search with lifeguards, rescue jet skis, a drone, and a helicopter. They said that the man was found deceased on Sunday night about nine miles north of where he went missing.
The man was identified on Monday as Elijah Rashad Thomas.
