Search for driver continues after man is struck, killed after leaving Kissimmee hospital
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continues to search for the driver they say struck a pedestrian who had just been discharged from a Kissimmee hospital and took off.
According to FHP, 56-year-old Albert Herbert was leaving Advent Health Kissimmee just after midnight on Tuesday. Herbert was using a walker and crossing Orange Blossom Trail, likely headed to the Wawa gas station, when he walked into the path of a van traveling southbound.

The impact was so great that FHP troopers say he was thrown into the northbound lanes where he was run over by another vehicle.
Troopers say the driver of the second vehicle did not stop. Herbert did not survive the crash.
No description of the vehicle has been made available.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS or the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash remains under investigation.
