2 dead, including teen boy, in shooting at Sanford apartment complex, police say
SANFORD, Fla. - Police said a shooting in Sanford that killed a 16-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man Wednesday afternoon may have been connected to drugs somehow.
Officers were called to The Overlook at Monroe apartments and found two people in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to the hospital where they died, police said.
On Thursday, police identified the men as Darius Dvon Moore, 16, and Willie Keshawn Baker III, 21.
One person, considered to be a "person of interest," is in custody on charges of marijuana possession and resisting arrest, a spokesperson said. Police are also looking for one or more people who may have run away from the area after the shooting.
Anyone with information – or may have been able to record surveillance video of the situation – is asked to contact the Sanford Police Department or Crimeline to remain anonymous. A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information that helps solve the case.
