Residents evacuated and homes threatened by wildfires near Naples

Crews worked to contain four brush fires burning a total of about 400 acres in Naples, Florida, on May 13, local media reported.

One of the fires threatened about 30 homes in Golden Gate Estates, burning 50 to 60 acres, Naples News said.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are coordinating voluntary evacuations from the areas near the fires. The Greater Naples Fire Department said units from all emergency response agencies were working to contain the blaze.

In the video, plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the brush fires and clouding the sky over Naples.

As of May 13, fire officials say the fire had grown 5,000 acres without containment.
