House GOP votes to condemn Kamala Harris over administration's managing of border policy

House Republicans voted for a resolution condemning the Biden administration and Vice President Kamala Harris over their managing of the U.S. border with Mexico.

The House voted to pass the resolution "strongly condemning" the Biden administration and Harris's "failure to secure the United States border."
All House Republicans and six Democrats voted for the resolution. The Associated Press reported that the six Democrats who voted for the resolution were mostly members from battleground districts that have been critical of President Joe Biden.

Republicans claim Harris did not do enough to clamp down on illegal immigration in a role they characterized as "border czar."
The vote comes as Harris tries to secure the Democratic nomination for president, setting up a potential matchup with Donald Trump in November’s election.

Harris' role was to manage efforts to deal with issues driving migration in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras while pushing them to improve enforcement on their borders.

According to the AP, the Biden administration wanted to develop and implement a long-term strategy focusing on the causes of migration from those countries.
