Interstate 4 (I-4) eastbound is completely shut down near Dirksen Drive in Volusia County, forcing all cars to exit at mile marker 104, because of a fatal crash that happened early on Thursday.

A motorcycle was traveling on eastbound I-4 when it struck the rear of an SUV. The motorcycle driver was ejected and run over by seven other vehicles. The drivers of the other vehicles stopped and contacted law enforcement.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says that troopers are on scene at I-4 eastbound, mile marker 107. The crash occurred at 12:20 a.m. and involves a vehicle versus a motorcycle. There is one person deceased on scene.

Due to the debris field of the crash and victim, FHP says that eastbound I-4 will be closed for an extended period until cleanup is complete. Traffic is being diverted at mile marker 104.
