Police say man tried to grab child in parking lot
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Detectives with the Ormond Beach Police Department are trying to identify a man they say may have attempted an abduction of a 2-year-old child.
Authorities said the incident happened in the parking lot of the Publix. After putting one child into a car seat, the mother turned around to get her second child from the shopping cart. She told deputies that a man was reaching out with both arms extended towards the child, but he was startled when she turned around, and he ran to a silver car.
The man is described as Hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old, approximate 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with dark hair, facial hair, a thick build, last seen wearing a white T-Shirt.
The vehicle is described as an older silver 4-door passenger car, with heavily tinted rear windows. The tag possibly contains the letters "XJY".
