Police cracking down on drivers ignorning crosswalks

Orange County students hit the streets this week for school and a new program is hoping to keep them safe.

The Orlando Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Florida will be out Wednesday enforcing the FL pedestrian yield law as part of Operation Best Foot Forward.

OPD & OCSO will be at these crosswalks:

• Conway Road & Hargill Drive 8 - 9 a.m.
• Conroy Road & Vineland Road 8 - 9 a.m.
• Lee Vista & Odyssey Middle School 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.
• Mercy Drive & Kalwit Lane 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
• Woodbury Road & Mallory Circle 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
• Pine Hills Road & El Trio Way 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
• International Drive & Austrian Court 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
• Dr. Phillips Blvd. & Sandberry Blvd. 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
• Landstar Blvd. & Misley Drive 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
• Edgewater Drive & Shady Lane 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.
• Lake Underhill Road & Palmer Street 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.

Drivers who fail to yield can expect a $164 ticket and 3 points on their license. Remember to ALWAYS yield for PEDS!
