2 shot near Winter Park Village

The Winter Park Police Department said it is looking for a suspect or suspects in a shooting that injured two people near the Winter Park Village.

Winter Park police say two people were shot near Winter Park Village.

Officials say the suspect left the scene in what is believed to be a silver or gold, older model four-door sedan at around 12:45 p.m. Monday.

It happened near Swoope Avenue and Denning Drive, according to police.

Investigators said one person was grazed by a bullet and treated and released, but the other person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Looked like they were talking at first, then they shot at him five or six times. Boom, boom, boom."

It was just before 1 p.m., when a 77-year-old man, who asked us not to show his face, says he saw two young suspects shoot at another man.

"I asked him, 'You want me to take you to the hospital?' And he said, 'No, I just called police.' But, he was very traumatized."

As this man went to help the victim, he too suffered an injury.

"I just barely got grazed [by a bullet]."

The 77-year-old said this isn’t the first time he’s been in a scary situation.

"I’m a veteran. I was in the Bay of Pigs when Kennedy was president."

The man told FOX 35's Valerie Boey that he was unsettled by Monday's shooting incident.

"I was very nervous to tell you the truth. I was very upset. I couldn’t believe it. Kids."

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Winter Park Police Department or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
