Officials: Plane crash lands with two people on board in Melbourne flea market parking lot, downs power line

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says a small plane crash-landed in a flea market parking lot around 7:08 p.m. Thursday in Melbourne.

FAA officials report the twin-engine Beechcraft 76 crashed in the Rennigers Flea Market parking lot after the pilot reported engine issues.

The Federal Aviation Administration says a plane crashed in a parking lot Thursday evening in Melbourne.

Aviation leaders state two people were on board the plane, one suffering minor issues and one being uninjured.

The Melbourne Police Department says the pilot and co-pilot were out of the aircraft and walking when first responders arrived.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers say they found a downed, high-tension power line in the parking lot stretched across the entrance ramp to southbound I-95.

Police report that the initial investigation reveals the plane may have suffered a mechanical issue and was attempting to return to the Melbourne Orlando International Airport.
