Pilot makes emergency landing in Apopka woods

A pilot had to make an emergency crash landing in some woods in Apopka overnight.

Apopka Police say that they received a call from the pilot on Sunday night saying that he was going to try to land his plane at Apopka airport, but he did not make it. Instead, he crashed into the nearby woods.

The pilot, later identified as 61-years-old, reportedly told the Orange County Sheriff's Office that he was attempting to land when he saw a deer on the runway and had to turn around. He then experienced mechanical difficult and crashed into the woods west of the airport.

Fortunately, the pilot is okay and no one else was injured in the crash.
