OUC warns customers of phone scam
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The OUC reports a nationwide scam where customers receive a call telling them their electric service will be disconnected if they don’t make an immediate payment.
These criminals are claiming to be their electric utility company, and are targeting residential and small commercial customers.
One OUC customer fell victim to this scam on Tuesday.
The scam usually works after a customer purchases some sort of cash card and shares the receipt and PIN number with the person claiming to be with OUC. Once the criminals obtain the information on the card, the money is directly transferred to them.
Customers, who have doubts about the legitimacy of any call from the OUC, should contact OUC directly at customerservice.ouc.com or 407-423-9018. Do not provide payment or personal information to anyone calling claiming to be from OUC.
