ORLANDO, Fla. - Thursday is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with temperatures reaching the mid to high 90s inland. As of 6 p.m. On Wednesday, heat index values were recorded above average, with some areas surpassing 100 degrees for the first time this year.
Moreover, a severe weather threat is anticipated to extend into the Deep South on Thursday, progressing into northern Florida by Friday. A Level 1 out of 5 "marginal" risk for severe storms has been issued for the Gainesville and Flagler County areas and points northward. There is a possibility that a complex of strong to severe storms may affect the northernmost counties on Friday afternoon and evening, although it is not expected to reach Orlando.
A front arriving on Friday night is anticipated to bring relief from the heat over the weekend. Additionally, there is a slight chance of daily cooling showers along the sea breeze.
