Orlando Weather Forecast: July 22, 2024

Tuesday will bring another chance for showers in the afternoon and early evening hours. The day will start with a blend of clouds and sunshine. Most storms will likely be north and west of the Interstate 4 corridor. Highs will reach the mid-90s.

Monday's remaining storms will wind down rapidly this evening.

Expect significantly higher rain chances on Tuesday, with around 70% coverage. Once storms develop, they will move northwest, affecting the entire area.

LONG-RANGE: Typical July weather will bring scattered afternoon and evening storms across Central Florida, with very humid and hot conditions persisting. Rain chances will drop slightly to about 50% from Thursday through Saturday before rising to nearly 60% from Sunday into next week.

TROPICS: Due to Saharan Dust and the current phase of the Madden-Julian Oscillation, conditions will remain quiet. The Saharan Dust layer over Florida will clear by Wednesday, bringing hazy skies on Tuesday. No tropical development is expected this week or in the near future. Another burst of Saharan dust may approach Florida late this weekend and early next week. This will be monitored as it approaches.

Saharan Dust in Florida

Saharan Dust is a factor in our forecast at the start of the week. Due to the dust, we're already seeing air quality levels in the moderate category, and that, coupled with the hot and humid temperatures, will make it difficult to be outside for those who have any sort of breathing problems or who are sensitive to allergens in the air.

LOOKING AHEAD: Some Saharan dust will stick around Tuesday, before gradually departing by mid-week. Rain chances will remain lower than usual, but scattered afternoon downpours will remain possible.

Temperatures will still be a degree or two above normal, with highs approaching the mid-90s. Tropical air rich with moisture will try to make a return midweek across Central Florida. A weak disturbance will be just offshore as well, which will be another factor helping to increase our rain chances by mid-to late week.
