Severe afternoon, early evening weather possible

The FOX 35 Storm Team is tracking isolated showers with the potential for severe weather. As these showers track east, periodic thunderstorm warnings have been issued. We anticipate severe weather again on Sunday and because of this, we are declaring it a FOX 35 Storm Alert Day.

The FOX 35 Storm Team anticipates severe weather again on Sunday afternoon, mainly along the Atlantic Coast. Because of this, we are declaring Sunday a FOX 35 Storm Alert Day.

After a storm Saturday afternoon, another round of rain is possible overnight into early Sunday. Severe weather is possible, mainly along the coast. The main risks include wind, lightning, small hail, and an isolated tornado or waterspout.

A front will continue to sink southward overnight into Sunday, leading to an earlier chance of rain. Scattered showers are likely in the morning.

As we enter the afternoon, substantial heating will bring about a severe risk, especially near the coast. For now, there is a possibility that clouds and morning rain could hold down our severe chances overall, but if a storm were to form, it could produce severe winds and hail.

The Storm Prediction Center rates parts of Brevard and Volusia counties at a level 2 risk of severe weather and the rest of our area at a level 1 risk. The highs will be cooler than Saturday, with most areas staying in the mid- to upper 80s.

BEACH FORECAST: Stay weather aware this afternoon, as a storm is likely after 2 p.m. along the coast. Isolated severe weather will be possible through the afternoon before rain chances dissipate this evening. Highs reach the low to mid-90s. Surf is low, and the risk of rip currents is high.

LOOKING AHEAD: Rain chances are lower into next week, with only a few scattered showers on Monday and Tuesday and then drier and warmer the rest of the week.
