Path of The Great American Eclipse of 2024

FOX 35 Storm Team Meteorologist Noah Bregren breaks down the path of The Great American Eclipse of 2024.

Central Florida can expect delightful weekend weather, with cool evenings forecast for Saturday and Sunday. Daytime temperatures will rise nicely each afternoon, promising comfortable conditions for outdoor activities.

Moreover, a noticeable improvement in wind conditions is anticipated. The blustery weather of recent days will diminish, offering calmer winds this weekend.

Looking ahead to Monday, skygazers in central Florida are in for a treat with a partial solar eclipse visible just after 3 p.m. It's crucial to use eclipse glasses for safe viewing. The peak time to witness this celestial event is around 3:03 p.m., lasting approximately three minutes, as nearly 60% of the sun will be obscured over Florida.

As we move into mid-next week, temperatures will climb into the upper 80s before a cold front approaches toward the week's end. Expect showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds sometime from late Thursday through midday Friday. Further details on timing and intensity are forthcoming.

Our weather will remain dry through the middle of next week before a cold front threatens to bring rain and storms to our region this time next week.

2024 Atlantic Hurricane Seasonal Outlook

The hurricane season is expected to be a big one, with potentially record storm numbers and strong hurricanes.

In a La Niña season, hurricanes are often pushed farther west due to the strength and orientation of the Bermuda High, which could translate into more US East Coast landfall potential. This sentiment was echoed by Dr. Phil Klotzbach of CSU in Thursday's seasonal forecast.
