This week will be breezy across the region, with east winds of 10-20 mph and gusts reaching 20-30 mph, due to a nearly stationary area of high pressure over the western Atlantic.

Temperatures this week will hover near average, with highs in the low 80s in most areas.

The forecast calls for a mix of clouds and sun through Thursday, along with a few rain showers. While no significant rain is expected, showers are likely within the easterly flow. The trick-or-treating forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low-70ds.

LOOKING AHEAD: By the weekend, conditions are expected to improve slightly, with more sunshine and fewer showers. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night, as daylight saving time ends and standard time begins on Sunday.

Tracking the tropics:

In the tropics, attention is focused on the Caribbean, where there's a 40% chance of tropical development over the next week. These chances are expected to increase, with the potential development of a tropical system between Saturday, Nov. 2, and Monday, Nov. 4. If the system forms, it will be named "Patty."

Two potential scenarios are in play:

  • Scenario 1: A stronger storm could move west into the Gulf of Mexico around or after Election Day, potentially posing a threat to Florida or the U.S.
  • Scenario 2: The system could track across Haiti and the Dominican Republic before either moving northwest off Florida’s east coast or dissipating under high pressure in the Atlantic.

As of now, there are no spaghetti models available on this system because it doesn't exist yet. While the system has yet to form and there’s no immediate cause for concern in Florida, travelers to the Caribbean should monitor forecasts closely as the week progresses.
