Person shot, carjacked in Orlando's Baldwin Park

Orlando police are searching for a suspect who shot someone and then carjacked them Wednesday afternoon.  The victim was taken to the hospital, and as of Wednesday night, the suspect had not been found.

There was a large law enforcement presence near the intersection of S.R. 408 and Hiawassee Road as police said they were working to identify the suspect. Roadways in the area were blocked for hours while the search was underway. All have since reopened.

Police later clarified with FOX 35 News that the carjacking occurred in Orlando's Baldwin Park neighborhood, where our news crews observed a second crime scene at a residence on Prospect Ave. Few details were released and police did not provide a description of the suspect.

Orlando police officers said the victim was shot in a parking lot near a Baldwin Park residential complex, in the middle of the day. The victim ended up on the sidewalk, most likely trying to get help.

"My brother-in-law saw him when he was collapsed on the floor," said Yan Bohyn. He said the incident has him and other Baldwin Park residents on edge. "I park my car in the parking lot over there every day, and it’s unnerving to know that this happened in broad daylight on top of that."

The victim is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Investigation revealed the suspect is known to the victim and this was not a random act. Drugs and a firearm were located inside the vehicle when it was recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
