Orange County to shorten testing lines by moving some services to new location

Orange County leaders are considering this move to ease the long wait and congestion at the Barnett Park site and to get more people into the vaccination site at Barnett Park.

Orange County put a plan into action on Monday to shorten the lines at its coronavirus testing and vaccination sites.

Orange County Health Services has announced its COVID-19 vaccine operations will transfer from Barnett Park to Camping World Stadium beginning on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 9 a.m. This means Barnett Park will no longer conduct vaccinations.

  • Camping World Stadium1 Citrus Bowl Place, Orlando, FL 32805Open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., or until capacity is reachedNo appointments needed, only four (4) persons per vehicleCOVID-19 testing NOT available

Orange County Health Services will open a third drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the old Clarcona Elementary School location in Apopka. This new testing site will join Orange County’s two other testing sites at Barnett Park and the Econ Soccer Complex. All three testing sites will be open through the end of the month, at which time the County will evaluate if the sites need to remain open.

"We have not only the public sector mandating certain categories of employees get vaccinated, but the private sector is doing the same. I believe as a result of some of that it will drive an increase in the rate of vaccinations within our community," Mayor Demings said.

Orange County’s testing sites operate seven days a week from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. However, it is important for residents to know that due to the rising demand from residents wanting to be tested, sites may close earlier than 5 p.m. Residents interested in getting a COVID-19 test are urged to arrive early to ensure they can be accommodated before the sites close.
