Mom indicted in baby’s death, toddler’s injury

A 26-year-old Orange County mother has been indicted on charges of killing her baby and injuring her toddler by setting them on fire.

ORLANDO, Fla. - A 26-year-old Orange County mother has been indicted on charges of killing her baby and injuring her toddler by setting them on fire.

Deputies responded to Esther Thelus’ home in August following reports of a fire. Thelus and her two children were inside the home and were hospitalized with burn injuries. The baby boy later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe Thelus deliberately set herself and the children on fire amid a custody dispute.
