Oprah, Michelle Obama to team up for summit on women in US

Oprah Winfrey and first lady Michelle Obama are teaming up for a summit at the White House on the state of women in the United States.

The White House says Winfrey will be onstage with Mrs. Obama for a conversation about the next generation of women on June 14 in Washington. She joined other celebrities including actresses Meryl Streep and Tina Fey in an online video previewing the summit.

The conference is being dubbed the "United State of Women" summit. The first lady says the summit will focus on economic issues, women's health, education, violence against women, entrepreneurship and leadership.

Mrs. Obama writes on the website Medium that the goal is to evaluate what challenges remain for women and what strategies will work to address them in the future.
