Officers find body in the Halifax river in Port Orange
PORT ORANGE, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A man's body was found floating around in the Halifax river in Port Orange on Sunday morning.
The Port Orange Police Department says that at approximately 10:58 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Riverside Drive and Katherine Street in response to possible body floating in the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway.
Officers reportedly located a male about 100 feet away from the shoreline, not far from the intersection of Riverside Drive and Katherine Street. Detectives, with assistance from the Volusia County Beach Safety, retrieved the body.
The identity of the body is being withheld. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine how he died and any other clues as to how he wound up floating in the Halifax river.
