Ocala police investigate murder of elderly woman
OCALA, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) - Ocala police and crime scene investigators sifted through an elderly woman’s house on Thursday looking for clues in her death.
Lizzie Bracey, 70, was found dead inside her home on NW Old Blitchton Road on Wednesday afternoon. Police are not saying how she died, but her death has been ruled a homicide.
“My aunt was one of the most loving people you could ever meet,” said the victim's niece, Yvette Johnson. "We have lost the glue that held us together.”
One of six children, Bracey was a grandmother and great-grandmother.
“I find it extremely strange to deal with the fact that it may have been someone that she knew,” Johnson said. “To get out in the yard and be murdered.”
Johnson said she desperately wants answers and justice.
“I am ripped into pieces,” she said as tears fell down her face. “I ask anybody that knows anything to please contact somebody.”
Detectives are asking anyone with information about Lizzy Bracey’s murder to come forward. If you have information, you are asked to call Ocala Police at 352-369-7000, or call CrimeStoppers at 352-368-7867.
