VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - A new, low-cost airline may be your latest ticket to the skies.
On Wednesday, Daytona Beach International Airport announced Avelo Airlines will begin to service travelers back and forth twice a week starting in June. The airline will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.
Representatives from Avelo said Daytona Beach was one of their most-requested routes, which made the decision a no-brainer.
"It's easy, convenient, and it's going to make getting in and out and to the beach or to the convention center or to whatever brings you to Daytona, quick easy and simple, and that's how we operate," Avelo said.
Avelo started flying in 2021 with one route in California. Since then, they have flown almost 2 million passengers on over 15,000 flights.
