Murder suspect arrested after pursuit, crash
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (FOX 35 Orlando) - It was a wild scene in Ormond Beach Thursday, as a high-speed chase ended when a suspect crashed into a power pole. That suspect was wanted for murder out of Brevard County.
It took three different agencies in two counties to track down the suspect. A day on the run came to a screeching halt in Ormond Beach for Daniel Blair, who is now charged with murder, burglary and robbery. Deputies say he killed a man on Kirby Drive in Titusville.
It started early Thursday morning. Deputies say Blair broke into the house and tried to rob a man inside, then killed him, stole his car and took off. But first, deputies say he confided in someone that he did it and was leaving the area.
Brevard County put out an alert, asking for help locating the suspect and the stolen car. Ormond Beach Police finally spotted it Thursday afternoon, but when they tried to pull him over, deputies say Blair kept going, leading cops, deputies and U.S. Marshals on a chase until he crashed. The crash knocked out power to the area and knocked out his chances of getting away from officers.
Blair is locked up in Volusia County before he’s taken to Brevard County to face more charges. Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
