1 dead, multiple hurt after Orlando shooting

One person had died, and multiple people have been hurt after a shooting Friday afternoon at an apartment complex along Mercy Drive in Orlando, police said.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting Friday at an apartment complex in Orlando, police said.

The shooting was reported shortly before 2:30 p.m. at the Jernigan Gardens Apartments on Mercy Drive. A 22-year-old woman was killed. Three others were shot, but their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Police identified the victim Saturday morning as Macayla Queen Patterson.

Multiple people shot at apartment complex in Orlando

Multiple people have been shot in Pine Hills, according to the Orlando Police Department. Shortly before 4 p.m., there was a large police presence in the 1400 block of Mercy Drive. A second crime scene was located about a mile away near the intersection of Old Winter Garden Rd. and Duncan Pl.

Police also announced the arrest of 23-year-old Delray Shundale Duncan Junior on charges of first-degree felony murder and attempted homicide.

Two scenes

There were at least two scenes in connection to the shooting, as FOX 35 News reported Friday afternoon.

The first was at the apartment complex courtyard where the shooting reportedly happened. 

The second was about a mile away at the intersection of Old Winter Garden Road and Duncan Place, where a vehicle was stopped and three people were detained. One of those people inside reportedly had a gunshot wound.

Photos and videos from FOX 35 News showed officers inspecting what appeared to be a Chevrolet Malibu. Shoes and other items were found scattered on a sidewalk at the apartment complex.

The investigation was ongoing, police said. No other details were released.
