Mount Dora Police arrest suspect in fraud, identity theft, and drug trafficking case
ORLANDO, Fla. - Mount Dora Police officers made an arrest following a fraud, identity theft and a drug trafficking investigation.
What we know: During a routine patrol officers noticed a hand-to-hand transaction occurring through a vehicle window at the Mount Dora Quality Inn.
The individuals were taken in for questioning and with consent the vehicle was searched.
During the search, officers discovered:
- A Social Security card belonging to another individual
- Numerous stolen credit cards
- Identification cards, passports, and Social Security cards belonging to at least 10 different individuals
- 7.1 grams of methamphetamine
- 0.9 grams of fentanyl
- A scale commonly used for weighing controlled substances
One of the stolen Social Security cards discovered in the vehicle was linked to a recent burglary case in Leesburg and the driver was found to have an active warrant for passing or presenting a forged or counterfeit check or other document as genuine with the intent to defraud in Lake County.
