SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - An Orlando woman is in the hospital after a hit-and-run driver ran her over in Seminole County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
On Friday morning at about 6:10 a.m., troopers say Alyssa Harris, 26, was driving down Aloma Avenue in Oviedo when she somehow lost control and was ejected onto the road.
They say an SUV then ran over Harris, dragging her under the vehicle before turning into a nearby gas station and taking off.
Harris was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
She spoke to The News Station via phone from her hospital bed Friday night.
"I remember driving to work,” Harris said. "It drug me around that corner onto Tuskawilla and into the 7-Eleven gas station."
Troopers said a Good Samaritan at the gas station noticed the SUV and snapped a picture, sending it to the Sheriff’s Office saying the vehicle seemed suspicious.
The Highway Patrol released the photo of a dark-colored SUV Friday night.
Troopers said they had identified the registered owner of the vehicle and were working to track them down for questioning.
Harris’ family said Friday that she has broken ribs, a fractured pelvic bone and a list of other injuries that could have her in the hospital upwards of 12 weeks.
On the phone Friday night, Alyssa simply said she was in pain.
Her only message to the driver who hit her, "He needs better glasses, or to stay off the road,” she said.
Alyssa’s family set up a GoFundMe to help pay her medical bills Friday.
