SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. - The Sumter County Sheriff's Office has located the body of a missing 24-year-old man.
Austin Evans not far from his vehicle in a densely wooded area near the River Junction Campground near Webster, deputies said.
Evans was last seen Dec. 17 in the area of River Junction.

The sheriff's office said it had stepped up a law enforcement presence in the area in the search for Evans.

"The investigation is ongoing; however, the incident appears to be self-inflicted with no danger to the public," the sheriff's office said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Austin's family in this difficult time."
