WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. - A woman has been arrested on a charge of first-degree murder after a deadly shooting in Winter Springs, police said.
Winter Springs police responded to a home on Sheoah Boulevard shortly after midnight Wednesday morning in reference to a shooting. When police arrived, they found a 51-year-old man who had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police allege Laurie Adams, 38, shot the man, who has not been identified, in the head following an argument. She was arrested and booked into jail under suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder.
According to the arrest report, Adams told police that the man came home around 11:30 p.m. and "was upset." Their son had apparently had an accident, which led to the argument.
Adams said the man yelled at her and pushed her up against the wall. She took some time to calm down, police said, and went to the bedroom, grabbed a gun out of the closet and loaded it, the report said.
The woman told police that she saw the man sitting on the porch smoking. Police said Adams the fired the gun and shot the man in the head.
He was taken to CFR hospital in Sanford, where he died, police said.
