Man in Florida arrested with enough fentanyl to potentially kill 4,000 people, police say

MOUNT DORA, Fla. - A man was recently arrested during a traffic stop after police found enough fentanyl in his possession to potentially kill thousands of people.
According to the Mount Dora Police Department, officers initially pulled over the man, who complied by handing over his license. However, he drove away after refusing to exit his vehicle.
He was later located in Tavares and arrested on charges of fleeing a traffic stop and resisting arrest without violence.

A search of his vehicle revealed 8.1 grams of fentanyl, which police stated is equivalent to approximately 4,000 lethal doses.
"This case highlights the severe danger posed by this deadly substance and the importance of proactive efforts to keep it off our streets," the police department said in a statement. "We are incredibly proud of our officers for their diligence, teamwork, and commitment to keeping our community safe."
The man's identity has not been released.
