Ohio library book returned almost 100 years overdue

Librarians at an Ohio library were surprised to learn that an overdue book turned up at the branch nearly 100 years after it was first checked out.

What was the name of the book?

Local perspective:

"Wild West" by Bertrand W. Sinclair was returned to the Price Hill Branch Library in Cincinnati, Ohio. The book was checked out in 1926 and returned in late 2024 after it was found in a home.

Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library wrote in a Facebook post that the book was returned to the library in good condition and was added back to the catalog so readers can check out two versions of the book. 

Christopher Smith, a genealogy and research services reference librarian, told the WVXU radio in Cincinnati that he's never seen a book returned that was nearly 100 years overdue.

What is ‘Wild West’ about?

The backstory:

 "Wild West" is a Western-genre work of fiction. Smith explained to WVXU that it was very popular, and Westerns were a big deal during that era.

According to Amazon’s website, the book covers all the high adventures of the final frontier, and contains tons of historical pictures with text, historical profiles, and fun facts.
