LEGOLAND unveils LEGO Movie World expansion
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (FOX 13) - LEGOLAND Florida officially opened the LEGO Movie World section of the park, their biggest expansion since opening.
It is based on, no surprise, the company’s two movies.
You might bump into one of the characters from the movies, like General Mayhem, or Emmet, a very likeable hero.
Or if are a little more adventurous, you might want to follow your kids or grandkids onto one of the new rides. But don’t think you’re going to chill on ‘Battle for Bricksburg,’ where riders shoot spectators with water guns, and spectators squirt back from shore.
“This ride actually gets you super soaked,” said Monica Casado, who came from Fort Lauderdale with her kids. “They even tell you, be forewarned. Once you get on, you’re not coming out with anything dry.”
Danielle Westling and her kids seemed to survive quite nicely while riding ‘Unikitty’s Disco Drop.’ The ride rotates a wheel of riders to the top of a pole, drops them once, then bounces them down a dozen more times.
“The first drop is slightly scary,” she said. “Your stomach goes in your throat, but that’s it.”
‘Masters of Flight’ is more than just a movie ride, it’s a total immersion experience.
“You’re going to feel the wind blow on your face. You’re going to smell the smells,” LEGOLAND Florida spokesperson Brittaney Williams explained.
LEGOLAND Florida already has another expansion planned, a pirate-themed hotel, scheduled to open in 2020.
