Remembering Daytona Beach Police Officer Jason Raynor

Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young announced on Tuesday that Officer Jason Raynor died. He was shot in the head back in June. The suspect, Othal Wallace, was arrested days later and remains behind bars.

Following Tuesday's announcement from the Daytona Beach Police Department about Officer Jason Raynor's death, local law enforcement and community leaders expressed their sadness and condolences for the fallen officer.

On Tuesday, Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young released this statement: 

Law enforcement officers from around Central Florida gathered to escort Raynor's body from Halifax Health Medical Center to the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office posted a video of the procession late Tuesday as seen from the agency's helicopter.  The same procession was also captured on the Florida Department of Transportation cameras.

Body of fallen Daytona Beach police officer escorted from hospital

Law enforcement officers from around Central Florida gathered to escort the body of fallen Daytona Beach Police Officer Jason Raynor from Halifax Health Medical Center to the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office. Raynor died on the evening of August 17, 2021. He was injured when responding to a call of suspicious activity on the night of June 23, 2021.

Following the announcement, reactions from across Florida poured in in support of Officer Raynor's family and his work family, the Daytona Beach Police Department.
