ORANGE CITY, Fla. - David Monagas was leaving his apartment for work on Monday morning when a large oak tree crashed through the roof of his apartment building in Orange City on Monday morning.
He said it landed on his dining room table, where he had just drunk his morning coffee.
"It shot out a long branch like a torpedo right through [the ceiling]," he said.

A FOX 35 News crew observed massive damage to units on the second floor.
Desiree Kirker was on her front porch when the tree fell.
"I honestly didn't know what to think," she said. "I was just in shock."
Other residents of the building joined Kirker and Monagas as they watched crews clear the debris.
"It was a mess with the tree and the fiberglass," Kirker said.
Officials said no one was hurt, but multiple residents and animals had to be evacuated from their homes.
