VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - A man was arrested after a well-being check escalated into an hours-long standoff with deputies, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
What we know:
A deputy initially responded to a home on Lake Juanita Road in Seville on Sunday after receiving a call about a man's mental stability.
The sheriff's office said the situation escalated when the man, later identified as Austin Mowery, pointed a shotgun through a window at the responding deputy.
The deputy was not injured, officials say.
More law enforcement responded to the scene, including Volusia County's Mobile Command unit.

The standoff lasted several hours before Mowery surrendered around 2:30 a.m. Monday, according to officials.

Mowery was taken into custody and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail. He faces a charge of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
