What we know:
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who robbed a gas station at gunpoint around 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
The suspect, described as a Black man around six feet tall with a slender build, wore all black and carried a drawstring backpack.
Security footage shows him pointing a gun at the clerk, who filled his bag with cash before he ran off, passing Big D’s Barbecue across the street. After coming away with what deputies believe to be approximately $536, the man jumped onto the counter and ran out of the front door, in a southwest direction toward SR-44.

The suspect's identity and whereabouts remain unknown, and investigators have not determined if he acted alone or if he has a history of similar crimes.
What they're saying:
The gas station clerk described the robbery to 911.
"He walked in the door, I was mopping, I greeted like I always do, and he met me at the cooler doors at gunpoint."
She also noted the suspect’s preparedness.
"He definitely thought it out because out here if you’re in all black, nobody’s going to see you."
Nearby business owner Donovan expressed his concern.
"I hope he don’t come for me. I just hope so because there’s going to be a gunfight." He added, "I have four kids, and this is how I feed them. This is how I live, how I pay my mortgage, how I pay my truck payment. It’s not going down without a fight."
