KISSIMMEE, Fla. - A 47-year-old man was killed after he suffered a medical episode behind the wheel and crashed into a tree, according to troopers.
The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Stepping Stone Boulevard and Marigold Avenue in Kissimmee, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The crash reportedly only involved one vehicle, a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria.
The car was driving east on Stepping Stone Boulevard approaching Marigold Avenue when the driver suffered a medical episode while behind the wheel, according to a crash report from FHP.
This caused the driver to veer off the road and into a tree line in the median. The car collided with a tree and spun out, ejecting the driver. The back of the car hit the man after he was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.
The 47-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene, while two other passengers were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The passengers were a 36-year-old woman and 3-year-old boy.
According to the crash report, the man was not wearing a seatbelt, and neither were the other passengers.
